Meet Gentry

Let's meet

Gentry Hamrick, MS
(she/her)

Co-founder & ADHD Coach

Hi, I’m Gentry. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 9 years old. Despite seeing numerous therapists, going through years of schooling, and receiving accommodations and medication, I didn’t truly understand how ADHD impacted my life until my mid 20s. At that point, over 15 years of guilt and misunderstanding started to make sense.

Now, I want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to learn about the ADHD experience. You deserve to know that it’s more than struggling to focus—sometimes it’s hyperfocusing so intensely that you forget to eat or blink. You deserve to know that you may be more likely to experience anxiety, feel rejection more deeply, or not recognize hunger until you feel like you’re starving. The list goes on. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer, but I’m here to help wade through the information to learn what applies to you and your unique experience. I can also work with caregivers and loved ones to help better understand the ADHD brains in your life.

While we learn, we’ll also figure out the tricks that work for you. Though there is no “cure” for ADHD, we can develop skills and tools that help level the playing field. More often than not, well-intentioned loved ones say things like “Just sit down and focus, you’ll get it done.” To them, it may feel like you’re not trying hard enough, but to you it may feel like you’ve been trying for years.  It’s exhausting—and it doesn’t have to be that way.

Although I don’t practice therapy at Endee, I am a licensed mental health therapist. I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Public Policy & Community Service from Emory & Henry College in 2014, and my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Carolina University in 2016. I’ve enjoyed working with—and learning from—the neurodivergent community ever since. I’ve completed specialized trainings on ADHD and have also provided trainings on neurodivergence to others.

Within coaching, I draw from a variety of methods, focusing on goal-setting, psychoeducation, and external accountability. Together, we’ll explore the barriers and patterns that make tasks harder and identify the tools that can help. I approach my work from a queer-celebratory, anti-oppressive lens—and I bring humanness and humor to our sessions.

TL;DR: I became a coach because I know firsthand how powerful it can be to have someone who truly understands your ADHD experience—and how empowering it feels to understand yourself. I’ll work alongside you in building tools that fit your brain, because I get your brain.
