Meet Amanda
Amanda Hanlon, MS
(she/her)
Perinatal Autism Coach
Amanda holds a Masters of Science degree in Occupational Therapy, a Bachelors of Science in Psychology, and has nine years of experience as a pediatric Occupational Therapist. She is a proud parent of a strong and wonderful neurodivergent daughter. She strives to use this experience to fill sessions with compassion and practical efficient tips to ease the challenges families are facing. During her free time she enjoys hiking with her family, doing yoga, and researching new techniques to help her clients actualize their goals with ease.
Throughout her career as an OT and journey into motherhood she became increasingly aware of her own neurodivergence which was later diagnosed as Autism. It has been such a long journey and she could not imagine navigating pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and the transition to motherhood as a neurodivergent individual without the sensory, socioemotional, and neurological insights afforded from her clinical background. Despite Autistic individuals being at a higher risk for birth complications, postpartum challenges, and infant regulation/feeding challenges there is little to no support currently being offered even in the online world. Amanda is excited to be utilizing a whole body frame of reference to help neurodivergent individuals (wherever they are on their diagnostic journey) to better understand their sensory system, build skills to optimize self regulation, and optimize their body’s growth and recovery throughout the perinatal process.
Amanda is also thrilled to support not only you (the caregiver), but your child and whole family. Instead of turning to doctor google or social media about all the intricacies and emotions of parenting, you can send all of your questions to her. While confident that you are getting research backed responses with your child’s optimal care and growing spirit in mind.
Amanda has received advanced training in infant massage, bodywork, Sequential Oral Sensory protocol for picky/sensory eating, and Beckman Oral Motor for dysphagia management. She is a certified DIR Floortime Level 1 coach, which is the premier frame of reference for supporting Autistic children/families. This is the best (and frankly only) evidence based neurodivergent affirming approach. While most approaches force you to either push skills in an ABA style format, or defer to the childs wants with an attachment centered approach, coaching from a Floortime therapist will help you to grow your families skills, connection, and (most importantly) joy in ways that many families find staggering.
